site analysis & Concept Plan
SITE ANALYSIS
A clear map of your property, detailing boundaries, roads, access, structures and other key features, as well as factors which influence your site such as sun, wind, views, noise, slope and water runoff.
CONCEPT PLAN: THE PLACEMENT LAYER
The concept plan maps the future placement of garden beds, food forests, access, shelter plantings, livestock and poultry, and more, at a basic level.
Together, your site analysis and concept plan provide a clear visual of the shape and flow of your place,
and your bigger picture, bringing all of your main elements together.
Depending on your situation, this may be all the design support you need.
*FROM $800 - $1200
Design Elements
Available as an add-on to site analysis and concept design, or full design. Pick one, several, or all: shelterbelt, food forest, kitchen garden, or erosion control.
Add elements to a plan, or select them on their own if you just need help with one part.
Design elements are detailed (species, spacing and staging).
*FROM $250

living shelter design & planning
A standalone shelter plan, without the full design.
You don't always need the whole property mapped. If you already know where the wind comes from and what you want sheltered, what you need is a plan you can plant from. Includes a clear visual planting plan with species selected for your soil, exposure and climate, and guidance on row layout, spacing, porosity, length, and staging so you know what goes in this season and what can wait.

about REMOTE DESIGN
Designs are built remotely by default. This allows me to keep costs significantly lower, and therefore more accessible to a wider range of clients. I use satellite mapping data, local soil and climate data, your photos, and the information you gather using the Site Walk Guide, a beginner-friendly digital resource I've created which walks you through your own site analysis.
PREFER BOOTS ON THE GROUND?
On-site visits are a more premium option available on enquiry to clients in the Waikato, subject to availability.
PRICING
Pricing is mentioned as a guide, and very much depends on the type of property, and the detail of design required. A smaller, reasonably flat, and uncomplicated property will be at the lower end of the scale.

Site Analysis
Before any design work begins, we map the site's underlying conditions : sun paths, prevailing wind, slope, drainage, and soil. On this coastal block that meant charting cyclonic summer winds, heavy clay prone to erosion, and a seasonal spring feeding a boggy lower corner, all of which shaped every decision that followed.
concept plan
With the site's constraints and opportunities mapped, the concept plan lays out the big moves: shelter belts to break the wind, a food forest and veg zone near the house, wetland areas left to do their job, and a house site positioned for the view. It's the skeleton the detailed planting plan builds on.
