This is a supported, cohort (group) based pathway through the Regenpreneur - developed
online Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC), delivered with guidance, structure, pacing, and additional context.
The core curriculum, learning platform (moodle), assessment, and certification are provided by Regenpreneur.Students enrolling through Foodscapes will be guided through the curriculum as a group, from start to finish.
This pathway is designed for people who want the guidance, rhythm, and applied understanding that it provides, rather than a fully self paced or isolated learning experience.

How this pathway works
The Core PDC
- Online PDC curriculum delivered by Regenpreneur
- Portfolio based assessment
- Certification issued by Regenpreneur on completion
Foodscapes does not assess, grade, or certify student work.
The Foodscapes Facilitation Layer
Foodscapes supports a defined cohort moving through the PDC together, with:
- Clear start and end dates from March to November
- Cohort pacing rather than fully self directed study
- Orientation and onboarding support
- Monthly live group sessions via Zoom
- Optional reflection prompts and applied activities
- A shared group discussion space
The focus is on structure, sense making, and application, not content delivery or individual consulting.
Cohort structure
- One facilitated group per intake
- Limited group size to maintain quality and sustainability
- A shared rhythm without constant interaction requirements
Participation is encouraged but not compulsory. Quiet participation and observation are valid ways to learn.
Orientation and onboarding
Facilitation begins with front loaded clarity to reduce confusion later.
This includes:
This includes:
- A short pre recorded orientation explaining how the programme works
- A live onboarding session to clarify expectations, pacing, and practical questions
- A simple pacing planner mapping modules across the year
The goal is confidence and navigation, not additional content.
Live sessions
- Approximately one live Zoom session per month
- Sessions are recorded
- Discussion based or workshop style format
Live sessions are used for:
- Integrating concepts
- Exploring design thinking and sequencing
- Applying ideas to real world contexts
They are not lectures, individual consulting sessions, or portfolio approval meetings.
Scope and Boundaries
What facilitation includes
- Orientation and structural guidance
- Cohort pacing and rhythm
- Group facilitation and discussion
- Support for applying learning across varied contexts
What facilitation does not include
- Individual design consulting
- Site specific prescriptions
- Portfolio assessment or grading
- Managing individual progress outside agreed group structures
Clear boundaries protect both learning quality and facilitator sustainability.
About the PDC curriculum
The Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) curriculum is structured around applied learning through a personal design portfolio.
The course includes 12 core modules covering design principles, pattern understanding, site analysis, climate, soils, water, biodiversity, social permaculture, and design application, with optional modules for areas such as eco homes, gardens, orchards, aquaponics, and grazing systems.
Participants have access to professional 3D design software (Vectorworks) while enrolled, and can expect a time commitment of approximately 100 hours, typically 3–4 hours per week over around 8 months.

support and expectations
Support provided through facilitation
As part of the Foodscapes facilitated pathway, participants can expect:
- Recommended study pacing guidelines to support steady progress
- Regular group email contact with reminders, prompts, and updates
- A private cohort Facebook group for discussion and shared learning
- Facilitator posted prompts, reflections, and suggested learning materials
- Monthly live group sessions for integration and application
All support is designed to complement the core PDC curriculum, not replace it.
Engagement expectations
Consistent engagement is encouraged but not required.
Participants are expected to:
- Make a genuine effort to stay engaged over time
- Take responsibility for their own learning and progress
- Engage in ways that suit their capacity and learning style
Active participation, quiet observation, and selective engagement are all valid. What matters is a good faith effort to engage with the material and the cohort.
Who this is for
This facilitated pathway suits people who:
- Prefer structure and pacing over intensity
- Want support staying engaged over time
- Are new to permaculture or building confidence
- Value learning alongside others
- Are applying permaculture thinking to home, lifestyle, urban, or community contexts
This pathway is not suited to people who want the fastest, fully self paced option with no group engagement.
Facilitation approach
Facilitation is led by Kelly, founder of Foodscapes, and is informed by land based practice, education, and systems thinking.
The approach emphasises:
- Clear structure and expectations
- Flexible engagement styles
- Practical application over theory accumulation
The facilitation model is designed to support a range of learning preferences, including neurodivergent learners, without positioning the programme as therapeutic or individualised support.
Programme fee
The 2026 Online Permaculture Design Certificate course fee is $500, payable to Regenpreneuer.
